Painting: Traffic Lights

This was the first in the series. This painting didn’t start out this way at all. I painted this from a photo I took of a traffic light on Main Street in some rural town in Ohio. It was really nostalgic for me having grown up in a small town in Iowa and that started to come through in the painting so I just pushed it. It took on a life of its own and inspired me to keep trying this style on other scenes that evoked the same emotions.
