I was thrilled to be asked to help design the logo for the new Alley Stage theatre in Marietta (www.alleystage.org). This new, intimate space on the Marietta Square will be host to comedy, improv, cabaret and live theatre. It’s a great venue with big dreams. Knowing that the logo needed to be on all sorts of marketing materials in a wide variety of genres, we wanted to keep it mostly text-based and somewhat simple so it didn’t overshadow the event promos it was included on. Since it’s a black box space, I liked the idea of putting the logo in a box. Then, I wanted to use the double “L’s” in “Alley” to create what an alley looks like from above. It also gives a bit of visual interest that calls the viewer’s attention. I created a solid black and a solid white (not shown) logo that could easily placed on promo materials for any type of event. Then we create a gold version that the theatre can use when the focus needs to more on the venue, than the event its being host to. The logo so far as been used on business cards, signage, posters, social media promos, banners and TShirts. And, it’s just the beginning!
