This year marks my thirteenth year designing the graphics for JDVAC, the Joint Defense Veterans Audiology Conference—and lucky number 13 is taking us to Orlando, right near Universal Studios! To celebrate the location, the conference team wanted a magical theme inspired by the world of Harry Potter. While we couldn’t use any copyrighted imagery, we developed our own creative concept that blended a sense of wonder and enchantment with the professionalism and purpose of the conference.
Designing Event Graphics with Impact
The goal was to create graphic design for event promotion that felt both imaginative and patriotic. We leaned into a red, white, and blue color palette to represent both of the partner organizations hosting the event while infusing it with a touch of magic through custom textures, lighting effects, and typography. Once the main artwork for the program cover was approved, we expanded the design system into a full suite of event graphics.
Consistency Across Every Platform
The design was adapted for a wide range of materials, including app icons, websites, social media graphics, splash screens, and digital signage. This cohesive approach ensured that every visual element—from the first online teaser to the on-site program—felt unified and engaging.
The final artwork captures the spirit of JDVAC perfectly: a mix of patriotism, innovation, and excitement. These event graphics not only build anticipation for the conference but also inspire attendees to engage, learn, and celebrate the shared mission of supporting veterans through audiology.
