Panattoni Construction contacted me to help them create a holiday greeting for them to send to all of their clients, vendors and contacts. They weren’t sure what they wanted to do, but they knew they wanted it online and for it to have something to do with construction. What we came up with ended up being one of my favorite projects of last year. With my ongoing commitment to create positive social change and giving through design, I suggested we create the online greeting as an online donation generator. We would decide how much Panattoni wanted to donate and to what cause. (They thrilled me when they chose Superstorm Sandy Relief to the northeast coast!) We then sent out an email greeting asking people to visit the site every day until we hit our goal. The site was built with a system that recorded each visit and added a dollar to the thermometer gauge. To set the scene, I illustrated a little snowman foreman on a wintery construction site – complete with a Panattoni hard hat. I surprised the client by adding some falling snow – and they were thrilled. And the best part is we hit our goal within a few days!
