The popular ShakesBEER series is being brought back for season two at Alley Stage (alleystage.com) and I was excited to focus on the graphic design for theatre that helps bring this unique event to life.

Title Artwork and Visual Identity

This season features eight productions, including one that the audience will choose. Each show received its own distinct title artwork, combining a bold typographic treatment with a background image that hints at the story’s subject matter or setting. This design approach gives every production a strong visual identity while still tying the series together as a whole.

Color and Style Choices

The color palette plays a big role in the design strategy. Each show’s artwork is nearly monochromatic, with a different dominant color representing each production. This not only makes the graphics striking and easy to differentiate but also creates a cohesive series when viewed together.

Applications Across Theatre Promotions

The graphic design for theatre doesn’t stop at the artwork itself. Once each visual identity is set, we extend it across all of the show’s promotional materials—posters, social media graphics, and even the ticketing website. This ensures a consistent, professional look that captures attention and builds excitement for every show in the ShakesBEER lineup.
