Out Front Theatre Company (outfronttheatre.com), Atlanta’s LGBTQIA+ theatre, has announced their upcoming season for 2023-2024 and it looks spectacular! I was once again asked to help design the show graphics and was thrilled to do so. They are kicking off the season with The Prom and since that was such a big hit on Broadway recently – AND this will be it’s return run in Atlanta after being workshopped at the Alliance – we are using the font treatment for the title of show that was used for the Broadway production. Other than the artwork for that though, the rest of the designs are all custom. Two of which feature some illustration work. SnowGirls The Musical is a holiday themed spoof on the movie Showgirls but all about reindeer. For that one we had to have a reindeer in the classic pose from the movie poster. Another illustration heavy graphic is the one for Psycho Beach Party which we designed to look like a mid-century modern beach party gone awry. The other two shows rely heavily on typography to capture the feeling of their respective shows. At the Wake of a Dead Drag Queen shows mostly just the title but glams up the last three words to look over the top fabulous (of course). And The Gulf features a desolate photo and simple typography to hint at the shows darker and mysterious tone. For each show I will also created a full size poster, a social media campaign, a postcard and more. At the top of the image here, you can also see the rack card we created to announce and promote the season.
